Blogging and Journalism
Tennant, Ian. “NJ Supreme Court rules shield law does not apply to bloggers”. The Knight Center at the University of Texas. Journalism in the Americas. 6 June 2011.
The articles follow a New Jersey Supreme court case in which the court denied shield law protection bloggers. The court ruled that bloggers aren’t journalists and therefore can’t be considered news outlets. An online forum is a place for expression, but not reporting. However opponents stated news didn’t follow a certain venue, but a certain action. The ruling is subject to debate on free thought and the news, and can be applied on a Constitutional basis.
